Technology and agriculture: the field is already much more advanced than you think.

When we think of autonomous vehicles, the first thing that comes to mind are automatic cars, the ones we always show here at TecWorld. However, this is far from a reality, at least for those who live in cities.

And you know who's not impressed with that sort of thing anymore? The farmers, and do you know why? Because in the field the agricultural machines are already autonomous for a long time.

Last week we were invited by John Deere, one of the largest and most traditional agricultural equipment manufacturers in the world, to learn about some of their key agricultural machinery technologies - and the experience surprised us.

Precision technology to improve work. Working in the field requires a lot of special care that involves maximizing production and reducing the cost of labor. All this without diminishing the quality of the products. To try to help solve some of this, John Deere invests heavily in research and development.

And that's where much of the news comes, such as precision farming, which seeks to bring more efficiency in the field, reducing losses through work done more efficiently.

For this, there are several initiatives, such as controlling the machines with the help of GPS. If in some cases this only helps the operator to take the machine the right way, in others it can make the vehicle move completely alone, including performing more complicated maneuvers
